MMI Microscopy Core

Overview of Services

The MMI Microscopy Core provides centralized access to advanced light and live-cell microscopy instrumentation and structured training programs in support of basic, translational, and infectious disease research.

Services include instrument-specific training and certification, independent microscopy access, and staff-supported acquisition aligned with defined imaging workflows and technical guidance. The Core maintains widefield, confocal, live-cell, and plate-based imaging systems under BSL-2 compliance.

Training & Access

To request instrument training, please submit a training request (Request Services → Training Requests) for the relevant instrument through iLab.

Completion of training and approval by the Core are required before independent instrument use.

Rates

Hourly instrument rates and training fees are listed in the MMI Microscopy Core Rate Schedule.

Rates follow Johns Hopkins Core Facility cost-recovery guidelines and apply to reservations occurring on or after March 9, 2026.
